Message form the Aero Club -- Bob Skinner
Dear SAMAA member
You may have received an e-mail message from the Aero Club of South Africa, which requested your personal information (ID number and cell phone number). This message also advised that you are able to renew your SAMAA membership via the Aero Club’s FUNDI-system. This communication was not clear, and there was no motivation to explain the two requests. This resulted in numerous enquiries as to the legitimacy of the request, and the source, for that matter.
The Fundi system, beneficial to members of some of the other Aero Club sections for renewal of membership, has a transaction and commission fee. This effectively results in a reduced subscription fee paid over to the SAMAA. With this reduction, the SAMAA is required to either recover the shortfall from our members, or to reduce the period of membership. This is neither practical, nor desirable.
If the Aero Club required SAMAA members’ information (ID numbers and mobile telephone number), the correct methodology would have been to ask permission from the SAMAA management, or to ask the SAMAA for the information. Subsequently, the reason tendered was that the ID number is the unique identifier to establish dual membership of SAMAA and other Aero Club sections.
If you wish, you may supply your ID number to the SAMAA, but it is not mandatory.
Best regards and safe flying

Indoor Electric Fun Fly event -- 25 September 2013
Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know that there will be an Indoor Electric Fun Fly event taking place at Hatfield Christian Church on Wednesday 25th September.
Pilots briefing will be at 19:30.
This will be an informal affair - just a get together to have some fun flying indoor foamies. There will be events however to compete in but we will not be doing food, drinks and trophies this time around.
As David and I will not be available to organise the evening, Matthew and Stefan from Master Models have kindly agreed to run the event for us so please support them if you can.
Regards
Dave and Judy
