SAMAA files on Google Docs and Windows XP

In 2007 there was some concern over the cost of disk usage on the SAMAA web site.
I decided to hold any new documents on Google Docs in order to keep disk usage on the site down.
There are several hundred SAMAA docs there now. Some are of current interest, some may be out of date.
This process has worked well up to now.
However, Johan Ehlers recently found that he was unable to read anything on Google Docs using Internet Explorer version 8.
Internet Explorer version 8 is the Microsoft browser used by Windows XP.
It turns out that Google Docs will no longer operate with Internet Explorer version 8. Here's a link to more information:
As far as I can tell about one third of SAMAA members still use Windows XP with Internet Explorer version 8. So this is not a trivial problem.
In future I shall place new SAMAA documents on the SAMAA web site, we shall have to deal with the cost of extra space if it arises. But this still leaves the difficulty with existing documents on Google Docs.
There is a short term solution, It may not be ideal but it will work.
Users of Windows XP may download the Google Chrome browser, (or any other one compatible with Google Docs) and use this to read the SAMAA files.
It is possible to go through all the old docs on Google, move them to the SAMAA site and update all the links. This will involve a major amount of PT -- tens if not hundreds of hours.
I should be most reluctant to do this.
A possible compromise might be to move a few of the most important items in this way.
Ingenious ideas welcome.
